Support Local. Shop Small.
We are rolling into our 33rd year in business and are proudly still under the same family ownership that started it all in 1991.
To help us, you can do many things other than just buying dancewear supplies when you need it:
Monetary help:
Aside from making regular purchases and choosing to support our small business when buying your dance supplies, you can also buy gift cards to give to dancers or donate gift cards to dancers in need, or donate them to foundations that can give them to dancers. Buying a gift card to donate not only helps our business, but also helps a dancer in need. If you choose to donate to a 501(c)(3), ask if it's a tax deductible donation!*
Word of Mouth: Have a friend or family member who dances, or has a child that dances? Send them our website link, and send them our way! Dance at a local studio who you think could benefit from sharing our information with the entire studio? Share our information with them, offer our business card to have on hand for new-enrollments or parents who are seeking a local option to shop at.
Social Media: Interact with our social media channels, even just giving us a follow or liking posts, and sharing our updates or information with your groups online and your followers who you might not even know are looking for a local, reputable business to support.
We've helped multiple generations of dancers find their properly fitted dancewear since 1991. We've been part of hundreds of firsts for dancers. Those precious moments of getting your first pair of pointe shoes, to those memories we make with parents as their tiny dancers put on their first pair of ballet shoes between the ages of 3-5. Being part of so many family's lives as their dancer grows. Supporting those dancers through dance classes, all the way to dancing in professional companies throughout the world.
We've been extremely fortunate to have grandparents, who once came to us with their child to get their first ballet shoes, now coming back with their grandchild to witness that special moment all over again with the next generation of their family.
Supporting our small business ensures we can continue offering our professional support to the next generation of dancers, and continue a truly remarkable and unique service.
We do what we can in many ways to help support our local dance community. We help outfit dancers who need dancewear that cannot afford it, we donate to local dance foundations, we buy advertising in studio playbills, and we participate in studio auctions throughout the year.
Did you know Footlights was the first to donate the funds to bring in new dance flooring to a local, historic theater?
Did you know in accumulation over our 33+ years, we've donated over $100,000 back into our dance community through monetary donations, fundraisers, and also through donating dance supplies?
Did you know we've outfitted hundreds of local dancers who cannot afford their dance supplies? We've also been sponsored on the local news with our efforts to assist with donating dancewear to dancers in need.
We've given away multiple pairs of shoes, leotards, and heavily discounted merchandise for companies who provide dancewear for low-income dancers, and have partnered with our vendors over the years to bring as much revenue back into our community as we possibly can.
Did you know we've also donated to scholarship programs to assist local dancers? Also in assistance with our vendors, we've donated thousands of dollars to our community to support the local performing arts scholarship programs to send dancers off into higher education, successful auditions for dance company positions and more.
Did you know that in our time, we would spend thousands of dollars a year in supplying local dance studios with money to set up photo booths for their gatherings, and for playbill ads for recitals, towards event fees to host fundraisers and performances?
This is only possible when our local dance community in turn supports Footlights by choosing to shop with us. Without the continued monetary support of our community, we would not be able to continue these philanthropic endeavors to support and give back to those in need.
